Archive for March, 2011

Okay…ever since I got my first book deal in March of 2006, I have been flooded with questions from fellow writers, acquaintances, and strangers alike, all asking me the same question:

“How did you get published?”

It’s both a simple and difficult question to answer.  Simple in that…I worked hard, wrote a manuscript that an agent liked and they got it to the right editor who wanted to buy it.  Difficult in that everyone’s path to publication is different.  And, most of all…there is no magic elixir to drink, no secret handshake at the publishing door, no fairy wand to wave, or formula to it.  Believe me…there are a lot of people who think the previous things exist.  That if they haven’t sold yet, it must be a passcode they don’t have or a special voodoo dance around the fire they’re not performing.

That’s not it at all.

I adore this blog post from author Kate Hart that my agent sent to me and it GREATLY explains in clear terms how to get published.  Follow her “easy” instructions and, you two, can see your dream come true!

So…Purina posted that they’re looking for their first ever Cat Chow Correspondent.  The winner will travel the US, expenses paid, representing them, blogging, meeting cat owners, and spreading the word on the applicant’s platform item.

Well…considering Patrick and I already do this, making a video was a no-brainer.  Check it out!  Please leave a comment on the YouTube page!

We’ve got our paws crossed!!!

Well…we’re rolling into Gettysburg tomorrow for the Phenomenology 103 conference Thursday through Saturday. This is one of my favorite conferences of the year because it’s held in one of my favorite places.

If you’ve never been to Gettysburg, you’re missing out. You don’t have to be a Civil War nut, history freak, or ghost hunter to experience the awe of this tiny Pennsylvania town. There’s something in the air. A feeling. A sense. A sensation.

So many people lost their lives on these fields…yet…Abraham Lincoln walked the streets and delivered his infamous Gettysburg address, preserving the nation.

It’s also an opportunity to see so many of my friends in the “paranormal community.” (I hate that phrase, but, oh well…) There are some great peeps at this event: John Zaffis, Stacey Jones, Rosemary Ellen Guilley, Brad and Barry Klinge, Vegan Mel, SCARED, Chris Fleming, Dave Schrader, Tiffany Johnson, Jeff Belanger, Mark and Debby Constantino, of course Patrick Burns and little old me…and a ton more!  If you’re in the area, come see us!  I’ll have books and jewelry for sale.

Have you ever been to Gettysburg? Do you have any ghost tales?

I am back in the eastern time zone and enjoying all the spring has to offer.  I’m making my way up to Gettysburg where I’m attending Phenomenology 103, an awesome event where we investigate many of the haunted locations in the storied town.

I have been getting sooooooooo much fan mail on the GHOST HUNTRESS series, mainly readers excited about THE DISCOVERY that comes out May 1st!  I can’t wait for readers to get their hands on this one.  If you want to get a sneak peak and read the first chapter, then click here.

I also wanted to feature one of my fans in the Phillipines.  Did you know I’m on the best seller list there?  Wicked cool!  But here’s my friend, Christine Mae Villados, and she said GHOST HUNTRESS changed her life.

Love it!  Thanks Christina!

Send me your pictures of you with the GHOST HUNTRESS books and I’ll post them.  Thanks so much to all of you who are reading the series.  I appreciate you more than words can say!

Hugs,
